Maritime Security Officer Training: Ship, Company and Port Facility Security Officers
Course 508

Course Description

This three-day course qualifies participants as trained maritime security officers. The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Maritime Security Regulations (33 CFR Subchapter H, Parts 101-106) and the International Maritime Organization's (IMO's) International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code imposed requirements for maritime security on certain vessels and port/waterfront facilities that interface with such vessels.

The course is an updated version that combines the best of our successful previous maritime security courses for Port and Facility Security Officers (508P) and Company and Ship Security Officers (508S) offered during 2003 and 2004. The course content assumes that attendees have already submitted their maritime security assessments and are now in the implementation phase of their maritime security programs. While the course provides a regulatory overview of maritime security requirements applicable to ship, company and (port) facility security officers, its main objective is to present state-of-the-art information, techniques and tools for the ongoing development and implementation of effective and compliant maritime security programs. For participants having a U.S. focus, requirements of the USCG regulations are emphasized and supplemented with specific requirements of the ISPS Code where differences exist.
