William M. Bradshaw
William M. (Bill) Bradshaw is a senior engineer at ABSG Consulting Inc. (ABS Consulting) with more than 30 years of experience in chemical and nuclear industries.He led the effort to write the book Risk Based Process Safety for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS).According to CCPS, this book will chart the future direction of process safety management (PSM) for CCPS member companies over the next 10 to 20 years.More recently, he co-authored the CCPS book Conduct of Operations and Operational Discipline.He has also contributed to CCPS books:Guidelines for Mechanical Integrity Systems, Guidelines for Management of Change for Process Safety, and Layer of Protection Analysis: Simplified Process Risk Assessment. He is the primary instructor for ABS Consulting’s courses on PSM and management of change and also instructs courses on PSM auditing, process hazard analysis, mechanical integrity, layer of protection analysis, risk-based process safety and conduct of operations.
Mr. Bradshaw helps clients understand and manage risk by leading process hazard analyses, developing mechanical integrity programs, facilitating other issue-specific qualitative risk analyses and leading compliance audits. Additionally, he assists clients in developing or reengineering the management systems that support their PSM programs.
Before joining ABS Consulting, Bradshaw served in a variety of plant and business positions with ICI Acrylics, Inc. including plant maintenance manager, production superintendent, operations manager and North American business engineering and technology manager. Bradshaw’s other assignments have included technology development positions at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, Y-12 National Security Complex and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, as well as project/process engineering assignments while serving in the U.S. Army. He has extensive experience with processes involving highly hazardous chemicals including nerve agent and a variety of nonlethal chemical weapons and explosives, UF6 and flammable liquids.
Bradshaw received his bachelor of engineering degree in chemical engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1979 and his M.S. in engineering science and mechanics from the University of Tennessee in 1985.
