HazardReview LEADER 2008 What's New

Version 2008.0.15 Now Available
Posted April 2008
Note: You can check
the version of your software by clicking About LEADER on the Help menu.
New Features
- Undo! This long-awaited feature stores the past 10 groups of modifications to a project file, allowing you to quickly undo even the most complex of operations, such as inadvertent deletion of an entire analysis node, renumbering of action items, or a global search and replace operation in the Search Utility.
- Links to external documents. This much-requested feature provides the ability to link to actual drawing files, written procedures, and other reference documents. Users can now simply right-click in the master list or worksheet to open a referenced drawing or procedure in its native program, such as AutoCAD, Word, Excel, or Adobe Acrobat.
- Extra fields for deviations. This new feature provides the ability to show/hide and customize extra fields on the Deviations tab of a worksheet, allowing further customization of each analysis method. For example, now you can show extra columns for the parameter, guide word, intention/limit, explanation/assumption, etc., related to each deviation/topic.
- Project templates include report settings. Worksheet publish settings are now stored within each project file/template, making it easier to standardize report formats across a corporation.
- Unique report settings for each analysis method. Default worksheet publish settings are now stored on a per-method basis. This new feature greatly improves the formatting of published tables in full reports, particularly for full-scale PHAs conducted using multiple analysis methods such as HAZOP, what-if, and checklist to meet regulatory requirements.
- Quick print of current worksheet. New right-click menu items on the Worksheet allow you to quickly customize and store default publish settings for each analysis method and then test these settings by publishing the current worksheet without clicking through the Publish to Word Wizard.
- Quick print of master lists. New hyperlinks on the master lists allow the user to quickly publish the current master list view without clicking through the Publish to Word Wizard.
- XML reports. Re-engineered report publishing module now saves reports in Microsoft Word’s XML format (if using Word 2003 or later), further extending the ability to integrate these reports with other programs.
- Show/hide worksheet grids and tabs. The new ability to show/hide individual grids/tabs on the Worksheet for each analysis method significantly improves the Worksheet appearance and usability for analysis methods where a particular grid/tab (e.g., Safeguards) is not used.
- New Import Wizard. The popular Import Wizard utility is now included within HazardReview LEADER and accessible from the File menu. This wizard allows conversion of existing studies from a variety of file formats, including legacy LEADER files as well as Word tables, other PHA file formats, and now Excel worksheets! Including this wizard within the software saves several steps in the import process and eliminates the need to download and install a separate utility.
- New advanced reports. The Advanced Reports and Actions utility now includes two new reports requested by users:
- Recommendations report tailored to cause-by-cause analyses
- Safeguards report showing their related consequences and locations, for both cause-by-cause and deviation-by-deviation analyses
Enhancements
- Lightning-quick publishing of full analysis reports in Microsoft Word. The re-engineered report publishing module generates reports up to 400% faster than before.
- Improved LOPA template, including new IPL status option to accommodate recommended removal of an existing IPL.
- Improved LOPA wizard eliminates Excel's truncation of data items exceeding 255 characters.
- More efficient backups. The AutoBackup function now checks the current file against the most recent backup file; if no changes have occurred since the most recent backup, the timer is reset and AutoBackup is deferred. This prevents creating multiple identical backup files during long periods of inactivity (e.g., a lunch break) and overwriting older backup files that might be more useful.
- Improved worksheet functionality:
- Worksheet now refreshes appropriately when the current deviation is deleted or reordered on the Deviations tab
- When a new deviation is added on the Deviations tab of a Worksheet, it now becomes the current deviation
- Appearance of worksheet tabs improved:
- New tab color scheme differentiates between deviation-level tabs and section-level tabs
- The selected tab is now highlighted with bold text to make it more obvious which tab is selected
- Hovering over a tab now displays a more detailed description of the tab’s contents
- While on the Deviations tab of the Worksheet, clicking in the Navigator now automatically switches the Worksheet to the All tab if the clicked deviation is within the same analysis section. This better matches user expectations
- Worksheet now displays better after double clicking on one of the vertical grid labels to hide the worksheet tabs. This is a popular way to gain more screen real estate, particularly at lower screen resolutions
- Row heights in worksheet team and drawings grids now adjust correctly when wordwrap is initially turned on
- CBC checkboxes are now centered appropriately in the CBC column when a new item is added while in CBC mode
- Text in Deviation text box on worksheet now adjusts along with grid font adjustments, such as when the font size is increased or decreased
- While editing text in one of the text boxes (e.g., Design Intent) in a Worksheet, pressing Ctrl+LeftArrow or Ctrl+RightArrow now moves the cursor from word to word within the text box instead of switching to the previous/next tab of the Worksheet. This better matches user expectations
- Cut/copy/paste buttons have been added to the right-click menus for Sections, Deviations, Causes, Consequences, and Safeguards grids
- Advanced sectioning improved:
- Advanced Types dialog now allows selection of multiple items of the same type (e.g., multiple heat exchangers) for combining into a single analysis section
- Library import options now display on the Advanced Types dialog consistent with the options manually set on the File/Properties dialog
- Manually selecting a library import merge option on the File/Properties dialog no longer overrides the library import merge option chosen on the Advanced Types dialog when adding an advanced section
- Default wordwrap setting. Wordwrap can now be turned on by default as a program option, such that all grids will initially display with wordwrap turned on.
- Improved reordering of sections. Wordwrap and cell justification are now maintained when grid rows are reordered in the Sections Master List.
- Improved Access utlities:
- Advanced Reports and Actions, Search Utility, Copy Utility, and Risk Matrix Editor now display the filename(s) more prominently and allow the user to browse for a different file if desired. This reduces the likelihood of inadvertently making broad changes to a file other than intended
- All recommendations reports in Advanced Reports and Actions now show Responsibility, Priority, and Due Date
- Action Items Manager utility now provides user-friendly picklists to view action items in one or more of the following ways:
- by plant
- by site
- for multiple projects (instead of just one or all)
- for projects where last meeting date falls within a specified date range
- for action items where due date falls within a specified date range

- Now compatible with Microsoft® Office 2007 and Windows Vista
- Digitally signed setup files, executable files, utilities, and macros minimize Windows security prompts and give IT personnel and end users confidence that the files have are safe to use
- Updated user interface graphics and icons consistent with Office 2007
