ABS Group's Energy Division Hosts Free Gulf of Mexico Hurricane Risk Management Seminar

January 20, 2006

Houston - ABS Group's Energy Division is hosting a free one-day Gulf of Mexico hurricane risk management seminar for oil and gas producers and service companies on March 1, 2006, at the JW Marriott hotel in Houston.

This seminar is structured around the all-important challenge of minimizing and managing hurricane-related losses over the coming years.

The seminar includes speakers from NOAA's National Hurricane Center, Dempsey & Myers (forensic accounting firm), and Liberty International Insurers as well as engineering and catastrophe modeling experts from ABS Group. Jeff Dunstone, Director of GOM Operations for Kerr-McGee, will be a keynote speaker discussing their experience and perspective from the 2005 hurricane season. The agenda is organized around the challenge posed by Gulf of Mexico hurricanes over the next five to 10 years, implications for Gulf of Mexico operators, and approaches to minimize losses. There will be panel time for questions and discussion.

"The seminar addresses an issue that we'll all be dealing with for some time," said Al Escher, Senior Vice President of ABS Group. "The best Gulf of Mexico hurricane risk management programs will integrate engineering and risk finance approaches as well as updated weather pattern data. The seminar will be beneficial for people from several different parts of operating and service companies, including operations, finance, HSE and risk departments."
