Progressive Collapse Analysis and Mitigation

Progressive collapse occurs when a primary structural element fails and causes the collapse of adjoining elements, leading to further collapse. ABS Consulting performs structural analysis to determine the cause of failure of a primary structural element. We also assess risk of progressive collapse before an incident occurs.

ABS Consulting contributed to the development of the GSA Progressive Collapse Analysis and Design Guidelines for New Federal Office Buildings and Major Modernization Projects. We also developed additional analysis procedures to supplement the current GSA standards. We have evaluated numerous General Services Administration buildings, including:
