THESIS BowTie™ SOFTWARE
THESIS Enterprise
THESIS Enterprise™ is the fully web-based version of the original THESIS BowTie™ software. This version was conceived specifically to address the following market needs:
- To avoid the need to manage (install and maintain) multiple licences for large corporate networks
- To interface with other corporate tools for the acquisition of dynamic data and as a repository for other shared information
- To maintain consistency of approach in hazard management standards, such as best practice
- To quickly share hazard management learning and alerts
- To reduce the burden of cost from the development and maintenance of what should be common corporate governance
THESIS Enterprise is configured in such a way that it closely mirrors the traditional stand-alone application. The core functionality and the basic navigation functions are nearly identical; however, many features of THESIS Enterprise are unique.
Single Sign On Technology
Users may be logged on and authenticated through the normal network login process. The security profiles in THESIS Enterprise are more involved and can be linked to user profiles.
Global Repository
A fundamental difference when logging into THESIS Enterprise is that the user is presented with an asset hierarchy to navigate. This Repository screen is configurable with a business asset profile and user's assigned to the relevant groups.
The individual case files are stored under groupings, with cases classified under three notations:
Orphan – a case file which has no relationship to any other file
Parent – a case file which is a template and from which child cases can be derived
Child – a case file with inheritance links to its parent
The repository contains a number of other functions and information about the case file(s), including the audit trail.

Import / Check In / Check Out
Case files can be built in THESIS Enterprise or imported from the standalone version.
Due to the fact the application is web based there may be instances where connection to the web server or database server is poor or not possible, including offsite meetings and remote locations. In these circumstances, case files can be checked out and run in standalone mode then later checked in.
Logic checks during the check-in process ensure that relational data has not been compromised.
Parent:Child Data Handling
Following the creation of Best Practice templates for hazard management, the case files can be replicated at asset level using Parent:Child association. In the first instance, the child is a direct replica of the parent.
Subsequent changes can be made to the parent and then cascaded to the child, or children.
However, bespoke changes can be made to the child which are the property of that child only.
THESIS Enterprise will facilitate this process in a logical and controlled fashion.
Parent:Child Data Handling
Licensing
The supply of THESIS Enterprise is covered under the terms of a licence condition in the same way as the conventional standalone product.
Since the application is web-based, you must commission the software and associated database. THESIS Standalone licences are typically provided as part of the package.
