Tom Roche
Vice President, US Nuclear Sector
Tom Roche is Vice President, US Nuclear Sector of ABS Consulting. Prior to his current position he served as Vice President, Operational Risk and Performance Engineering and Vice President of Process Control for ABS Consulting. Tom has 25 years of experience in the engineering, design, startup, and analysis of nuclear power, Department of Energy, and process facilities. He has assisted clients in resolving risk management issues at nuclear plants and process facilities throughout the world.
He participated in numerous earthquake research activities and was the principal investigator for Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) sponsored research of the 1995 Kobe, 1994 Northridge, and 1989 Loma Prieta earthquakes to gain a better understanding of the performance of industrial facilities and electrical power systems. This research forms the basis for the earthquake experience database and its application to seismic issues throughout the nuclear industry.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a certificate in Management Practice for Engineers and Professionals from the University of California, Irvine. He is also a Registered Professional Engineer (Mechanical) in the State of California and a member of the American Nuclear Society.
