Combustible Dust Explosions

This 2-day course provides fundamental information on combustible dust explosions as encountered in the chemical, pharmaceutical, plastics, energy, and related industries. Primary emphasis is on the cause, course, and consequence of such explosions. Significant emphasis is placed upon the guidance provided by industry consensus standards, such as those issued by the National Fire Protection Association.

101

Compliance Auditing

During this 2-day version of the course, learn to perform compliance auditing of process safety management (PSM) and risk management program (RMP) systems in accordance with OSHA and EPA regulations. Attendees learn the fundamentals of compliance auditing as well as how to perform compliance auditing of PSM and RMP programs, document the audit results, and structure reports for optimal effectiveness.

Compliance Auditing with PSM Overview

Learn to perform compliance auditing of process safety management (PSM) and risk management program (RMP) systems in accordance with OSHA and EPA regulations. Attendees learn the fundamentals of compliance auditing as well as how to perform compliance auditing of PSM and RMP programs, document the audit results, and structure reports for optimum effectiveness.

Note: We recommend that attendees with good PSM regulatory knowledge take the 2-day version of this course and that all others take either the optional first-day regulatory refresher (included in this course) or the Process Safety Management course, which provides an in-depth review of PSM requirements. The Process Safety Management course, or equivalent, is a prerequisite for the auditing portion of this course.

Component Reliability Analysis

Through a combination of lectures and workshops, attendees will learn to collect and analyze component failure data quantitatively.

143

Condition Behavior Consequence Analysis

ONLY AVAILABLE AS ONSITE COURSE - Most human performance techniques look only at the conditions in place prior to the behavior. They typically look at whether the training, procedures equipment, personnel, and tools are in place that allow the desired performance to be accomplished. However, they do not look at whether the appropriate incentives are in place so personnel want to execute the desired performance. This half-day course provides a practical, straightforward tool (CBC analysis, also known as antecedent behavior consequence analysis [ABC analysis]) to help identify practical solutions to human performance problems.

141

Conduct of Operations and Operational Discipline

This 2-day course covers key aspects of Conduct of Operations (COO) such as operating procedures, communications, training, operator routines, configuration control, and investigation of abnormal events. Workshops will demonstrate how to make these practices a way of life in the operations organization.

Consequence Analysis

This course covers current regulatory requirements, including source term modeling (release rate, pool formation and evaporation, and aerosol formation methods); atmospheric dispersion modeling (meteorological concepts and passive and dense vapor cloud dispersion methods); fire modeling (pool fire, jet fire, boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion [BLEVE] fireball, and flash fire methods); explosion modeling (vessel rupture, BLEVE, vapor cloud explosion, and confined explosion methods); data and correlations for evaluating personnel injury and facility/equipment damage resulting from toxic exposure, fires, and explosions; public and commercial software available for performing consequence analyses; and risk analysis methods.
