Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know

Designed to help you fulfill your Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) reporting requirements, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 reporting and the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI). There will be opportunities to complete reporting forms, develop plans, and calculate quantities of chemicals present.

Enterprise Risk Management

Learn the basic concepts of Enterprise Risk Management and practice applying many of the concepts, including (1) issuing a more definitive risk doctrine that provides a clear vision of how the organization will use risk-based information to improve decision making in all branches and at all levels of the organization, (2) developing holistic measures of organizational risk management performance that extend beyond traditional incident databases, (3) using risk levels to optimize audit/inspection planning, scheduling, and implementation, and (4) making the process of understanding risks more effective and efficient.

Environmental Compliance Bootcamp

Learn the ins and outs of environmental laws and regulations during this interactive 5-day course. Instructors review the background of each environmental law/regulation, delve into the specifics, provide expert insights into how the laws and regulations may apply to your facility, and teach practical compliance strategies. Working examples of permits and reporting requirements are provided in some cases. The course covers all major environmental laws and regulations such as the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), RCRA, EPCRA, CERCLA, and TSCA. There is also a section on PCBs, asbestos, lead, storage tanks, environmental auditing, inspections, and management strategies. If you are new to managing and reporting on environmental compliance issues, this is the course for you. If you are a seasoned veteran in the world of EH&S, this is an excellent refresher course to meet annual training needs.

Facility Siting Hazards Analysis Techniques

Learn what you need to do to satisfy the hazards analysis portion of OSHA facility siting requirements using either a consequence or risk-based approach. This technical course is designed for the process safety professional who performs facility siting studies. Students should bring a calculator or computer. See also API RP 752, 753 and 756: Facility Siting Regulations and Compliance available the same week.

Government Risk Management

To compete in the competitive global market, companies are learning to make decisions based on transparent and repeatable processes. The only purpose of risk-based decision making is to provide enough information to help someone make a more informed decision. The process focuses on organizing information for logical understanding. It does not replace the decision maker. Neither should it force the decision maker into burdensome risk assessments to gather information that is either irrelevant to the decision or too late to affect it.

Hazard and Accident Analysis

Learn techniques for qualitatively identifying and assessing the hazards associated with process systems. Learn to choose the most appropriate technique for a given problem. Your organization can use these methods to conduct the rigorous hazard identification, hazard analyses, and accident analyses that are required for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) compliance with the Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) regulation for nuclear fuel cycle facilities (10 CFR Part 70). This course focuses on the hazard and accident analysis techniques (What-if, HAZOP, FMEA, Event Tree, Fault Tree, and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) that are used to address the NRC ISA regulations as well as the Department of Energy and other government regulations (ie, OSHA and EPA Process Safety Management).

Hazard Identification

This 1-day course teaches workers how to recognize hazards and how to reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP). It is intended to give workers practical technical knowledge so that they can effectively implement self-checking protocols such as STOP, Take Two, or STAR. Attendees learn how to identify hazards in the workplace, select and implement effective controls, and design better systems. Short exercises are integrated throughout the course to give the class practical experience with the concepts presented.

Human Error Prevention

During this 2-day course, attendees learn how to examine and categorize specific human errors to identify the conditions and situations that contributed to mistakes. Attendees also discover why most human mistakes and human factors are caused by error-likely situations, which typically stem from weaknesses in the policies/practices that influence how organizations select, train, supervise, communicate with, and design workplaces for workers.
Combine this course with Root Cause Analysis and Incident Investigation and save!

Human Error Prevention Essentials

ONLY AVAILABLE AS ONSITE COURSE - Learn to identify practical solutions to human performance issues. This one-day course explores the underlying reasons why human errors occur and provides a practical, straightforward tool (CBC analysis) to help identify solutions to human performance problems. In the first part of the course, you will learn how to examine and categorize specific human factors to identify the conditions and situations that contributed to the problems. You will discover that most human errors are really caused by error-likely situations.

Implementing ISO 14001

Learn how to develop and implement an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) that could be certified by a third party Audit Service Provider.
